Already a leader in Calgary’s construction industry, Rockwood Custom Homes has made another meaningful contribution to residential home building in the city—green building! Rockwood has just completed the build of Calgary’s first Net-Zero home—a home that produces at least as much energy as it consumes on an annual basis.
It was no small feat… Rockwood worked closely with the homeowners and followed Passivhaus principles to minimize the home’s energy consumption. The result was a beautiful custom home that will be able to lower its emissions by 80 per compared to similar luxury homes of the same size. With further tree planting offsets, the cumulative effect of the home’s energy consumption will be “Net Zero.”
