The town of Canmore may be famous for its breathtaking mountain setting, but the area has so much more to offer than just that.
Less than an hour west of Calgary, the town of 15,000 has world-class restaurants, spectacular golf courses, globally famous winter sports and a vibrant arts community. It’s also a great place — one of only a few to be found in the mountains — to build a home.
New, single-family estate lots are now up for sale in Silvertip Resort’s Mountain Tranquility Place, the first new Canmore subdivision to be released by developer Stone Creek Resorts in over a decade. Utility servicing and road construction is underway to prepare for the summer building season. Buyers can use a developer-approved builder familiar with Silvertip’s proven building guidelines or put forward their own for consideration.
Stone Creek vice-president, John Third, is one of Canmore’s staunchest supporters. “My home has been in Canmore for 28 years and I’ve watched it grow and evolve,” he says. “People travel from all over the world to visit and we are so fortunate to be able to live here.”
Stone Creek Resorts’ recent release offered just 20 residential lots, each with a unique grade or mountainside view. Only eight lots remain of that initial release, available for between $950,000 and $1.4 million.
“Unlike downtown Canmore, where homes are limited to 3,500 square feet, our large lots can accommodate homes from 3,000 to 12,000 square feet,” Third explains. “For many of our buyers, this would be a legacy home and likely the last home they would build for themselves and their family.”
There aren’t many opportunities to develop in such a pristine area, and Stone Creek is taking their time respecting the wildlife and the special environment at Silvertip in Canmore.
“There are eight single-family home lot opportunities today, but likely there won’t be any more for a while after this,” Third notes.
Surrounded by these limited single-family opportunities in Mountain Tranquility Place and now open for reservations are 24 exclusive villa opportunities comprised of luxury bungalow and two-storey semi-attached homes being offered by Rockwood Custom Homes, a highly decorated and developer-approved builder.
Mountain Tranquility Place is on the sunny side of the valley, with views of both the Fairhome and Kananaskis mountain ranges. There are five world-class golf courses, as well as downhill skiing in world-famous Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, Nakiska and Mount Norquay.
Canmore has more than 70 restaurants, a busy microbrewery scene and a lively arts community. According to Third, more people are choosing Canmore as a lifestyle community where they can work from home and commute to Calgary in less than an hour.
